LET'S GO! Todd Gurley Is an Atlanta Falcon and the Best Offense in the NFL Is Complete

Ok, I'm in. Let's ride.

What a piece of news to wake up to. I knew Atlanta obviously made sense as a landing spot for Todd Gurley, but I just wasn't sure the Falcons were going to want to take on that risk. But a one-year deal works out great for everybody. Gurley gets a chance to prove to the rest of the league he can still manage his chronic knee problems and produce and Atlanta gets the potential of one of the most talented backs in the league with a window that's shrinking.

With Matt Ryan and Julio Jones probably only having two more years near their peak performance level, it appears the front office knows it needs to make moves now. I'm still not thrilled about letting Austin Hooper walk, but an offense of Ryan, Jones, Gurley, Calvin Ridley and Hayden Hurst could be lethal.

I have given up making any predictions when it comes to the Falcons, because they will almost assuredly always be wrong, but man, this team could be good. Go get a corner and some more edge rushing help in the first few rounds of the draft and let's go win some ballgames.

Even with splitting carries and not being himself last season, Gurley still racked up 857 yards and 12 touchdowns. Ito Smith will surely share some of the load in Atlanta, but being the No. 1 back, Gurley could still definitely have another 1,000-yard year in him on a prove-it contract.

And simply by virtue of being a Georgia Bulldog, I have hated Todd Gurley his entire collegiate and professional career but I am admitting now that all my animosity has been washed away in light of the news that he is now wearing my team's shirt instead of another team's shirt.

Welcome back home, Todd!
