BIGGEST NFL STORY OF THE DAY: GIANTS SIGN BLAKE MARTINEZ TO A 3 YEAR, $30 MILLION DEAL

It's not often that one virtual handshake agreement can alter the entire NFL landscape. But that's what happened early this morning when Blake Martinez became a New York Giant. This is the biggest story of the day because Martinez will be the quarterback of the defense and as we all know, the quarterback is the most important position on the field and Giants are bigger than every NFL mascot. That's just basic science (I don't care if a Titan is bigger than a Giant, nerd). The Giants followed up this news by signing a real life human giant, which only cements the headline to this very serious blog.

Martinez's PFF grade isn't great, his coverage ability has been criticized, and people have accused of of being a stats compilah *said in Mike Francesa voice*. Luckily Giants fans have expected next to nothing from their linebackers since Antonio Pierce left town and have been used to tight ends and running backs absolutely torching their team dating back to when even Pierce was here. However my Clem Football Focus (CFF) grade on Martinez is much higher because he was a points machine for me in my IDP fantasy football league and he was a perfectly fine inside linebacker in Madden. Now lets get someone that can rush the passer, cover tight ends, and block Danny Dimes' blindside. They can be the same person, I don't care. But if Gettleman can do all that, we may actually have an NFL team in East Rutherford this season.

There already have been lots of moments in 2020 that you will not forget where you were when you found out breaking sports news. But the Giants signing Blake Martinez is clearly number 1 for all of us now.

Completely unrelated tweet that has nothing to do with any of the news from today.
