College Hoops Coaches Reportedly Want Selection Sunday To Happen As Scheduled And Then Postpone The NCAA Tournament

Alright, so we're not officially in figure out what the shit to do mode. Everything is complete guessing since we've never seen anything similar to this and no one has any idea what the hell is going on. But, this seems to be the general consensus from those around the sport of college hoops.

-Have Selection Sunday this Sunday

-Announce the NCAA Tournament is postponed as you buy time trying to figure out where/when you can play.

Let's start with Selection Sunday. Obviously those teams that already won conference tournaments would receive auto bids. We've seen major conferences like the SEC, ACC, AAC, Big East, Pac-12, Big 10, etc. all say that the regular season champion (or the 1 seed if there was a tie) would receive the auto bid. It would keep the same number of teams for at-large bids and a typical 68 bracket.

You don't have to do the full show with cameras on bubble teams and shit like that. Just release the bracket, interview the committee chair, etc about the process of postponing the Tournament and what the next steps are. It would give everyone the bracket to look at, answer some questions from the NCAA and start looking at the next step.

You obviously can't play any games for a few weeks. That buys time for the NCAA to start figuring out the logistics - which are obviously a nightmare. You have to find arenas to play at. Will players still be able to play depending on graduation, getting ready for the NBA Draft. Will they be able to play early enough to where it doesn't impact the NBA schedule? Just a million questions that would have to be answered.

But the point is, this is the obvious answer of what to do right now. Saying the NCAA Tournament is postponed doesn't hurt anything - besides give us hope that we'll see this Tournament actually happen. But it buys you time to figure out logistics. Maybe you don't do a full 68 team tournament. There are some possible solutions that can come without a rushed decision. You can always cancel later on if you can't figure it out.
