What The Hell Is There To Do When Sports Don't Exist As The Escape?

It's not breaking news that we're in the middle of a bizarre time. We are sitting here hearing the word pandemic and all this news of people like Tom Hanks and Rudy Gobert being diagnosed with the coronavirus. We've seen the NBA announce they are suspending the season, we're waiting for the NCAA to postpone the tournament or cancel it and a bunch of other sports leagues suspending play.

Here's the scary or weird thing. What are we supposed to do? Sports were always an escape the majority of us. Hell, this site at its core is a sports blog. We all have a connection to sports. We all use it as a way to escape our bullshit jobs, a bad day, whatever by cracking a beer, sitting on the couch and flipping on the game. We're about to start the time of the year that we all go the craziest. No matter what we always had sports as an escape. Just some examples that come to mind:

Are sports pretty dumb and typically make us grumpy (unless you're from Boston)? Yeah! Absolutely! It's why they are the best. We are invested in these teams or players and dedicate time, feelings and money towards it. It's what 99% of my conversations revolve around somehow. Whether it's my mom calling to bitch about the Giants. My dad calling to talk hoops. Shit, I named my kid after sports.

I just don't know what we do. We've always been able to rely on sports when shit is going wrong. It's the one consistent that was always there for us. So what do we do now? Read a book? Just watch Netflix? Pornhub is going to have a massive spike, that's for sure. It's just going to be a weird fucking time.
