Israel "The Last Stylebender" Adesanya Defeats Yoel Romero via Decision In An Anticlimatic Main Event

After one of the greatest fights in UFC history (in Weili Zhang vs Joanna Jedrzejczyk)...THAT was disappointing!

Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero kinda just stood there and fought an incredibly slow-paced, methodical and technical matchup (and both fighters had strategies seemingly centered around counter-striking) for five straight rounds, and the fans HAAAATED IT! They were showering the fighters in boos during the fight and even filing out during the fifth round. I can't say I blamed em, either! I wanted to love the fight and tried to become enthralled in the "chess match", but neither guy displayed any kinda will to win that captivated me.

Dan Mirgliotta also kept encouraging Adesanya and Romero to fight like he was Chris at Rough N Rowdy shouting "GO! GO! GO!" into the mic, which was weird. I didn't love that, even though the fight was what it was.

Definitely not the ideal first title defense for Stylebender on his behalf or the UFC's, but he won the fight, still holds the gold, and can move on to Paulo Costa now...

Congrats to the 185lb KING - Israel "The Last Stylebender" Adesanya!
