We Currently Have A 42-Year-Old Zamboni Driver Playing Goalie For The Carolina Hurricanes
David Ayres is a 42-year-old man from Toronto who is the Zamboni driver for the Toronto Marlies and Mattamy Athletic Center. David Ayres is also playing goalie for the Carolina Hurricanes in an NHL hockey game tonight. Yup, that is right, we have an EBUG situation going on in the NHL right now and I think I can speak for everyone when I say the whole hockey world stops the second something like this happens.
Think about it, one minute your sitting at your job cleaning ice for the Maple Leafs AHL team, the next your taking shots in an NHL game from Auston Matthews, John Tavares and Mitch Marner. It’s the definition of bananalands.
How did Ayres get in you ask? Well, Petr Mrazek got fucked up by Kyle Clifford and then James Reimer got hurt as well, leaving Ayers as the only option in the arena who could play tendy for the Canes.
How about the contract Ayers signed too? $500 bucks and his game worn jersey. I mean, the guy had all the leverage in the world and could of easily asked for more, but that’s a hockey guy right there. In it for the love of the game. In it for the boys. David Ayers is a Canadian icon.
