Giants Fire Perry Fewell And I Obviously Had Something To Do With It

After I broke down why the report of Fewell staying put as the Giants DC was a bad idea, Tom Coughlin apparently did a 180 and gave Perry the pink slip. Coincidence? The influence of Barstool Sports knows no bounds – even the old red-faced disciplinarian of the New York Giants is within reach. As usual, we’ll also receive zero credit for it but whatever. Fewell is out and Big Blue fans are rejoicing just as they did last year when Killdrive “retired” almost a year to the day. And as if it couldn’t get any better, aging FA safety Antrel Rolle has said that this decision could affect his future plans with the team since he’d “ride or die with Perry Fewell any day.” Out with the old…

The name everyone’s been talking about as his replacement is Steve Spagnuolo, and there’s no reason for anyone to hate that reunion. Other possibilities are from teams that have lost head coaches – Jim Schwartz in Buffalo & Vic Fangio in San Fran. And just because it’s New York, why not throw Rex Ryan in the mix? I’m so confident in the power of KFC’s sports jinx that if somehow Rex ran the defense next year it’d guarantee a Super Bowl. Whoever it ends up being will certainly be an improvement – the only thing to worry about is if a new defense will take as long to gel as the offense did under new OC Ben McAdoo. Still, a move that had to be made is done & now the off-season will be a little more interesting. Hopefully not interesting enough to land the G-Men on Hard Knocks though.
