Brock Holt's Time In Boston Has Come To An End After Agreeing To Sign With The Milwaukee Brewers

I am unwell. The offseason from hell continues to roll on with blow after blow. This one hits Red Sox fans right in the feels -- Brock Holt is gone. He's off to Milwaukee to write another chapter of his legendary tale with Christian Yelich and the Brewers.

I had a Brewers fan tweet me and ask me what they were getting in Brock Holt, so I'd love to answer that question here. What you're getting in Brock Holt is an amazing human being, a man who was wildly popular throughout the Red Sox fan base, as well as with his own teammates. On the field, you're getting a player who can literally play any position that you ask him to. He's an amazing teammate, a guy that you'll always find at the top step of the dugout rooting on his teammates, or waiting at the end of the high-five line to hug the team's slugger after homering. He's the guy that you love having on your side to break up the monotony of a 162-game season.

But above all else, he's a man who dedicated so much of his time and efforts to raising funds for Dana Farber and The Jimmy Fund, while being so generous with his time for the kids in those hospitals. He's a quality human being who cares about his teammates, he cares about his fans, and he cares about the community that he belongs to. You really can't ask for much more in an athlete on your favorite team. That's why I'll miss Brock Holt a whole hell of a lot, but that's also why Brewers fans should be really excited about the new guy in town. Take good care of 'em for us. They don't make 'em like Brock anymore.
