After Going Through the Redskins Schedule, They Really Have a Chance This Season

Looking at the first 8 weeks, not too bad. Kicking off the season on the road in Houston is an interesting matchup. No idea who their QB will be, and the Skins could be the first team to play against Bortles, Johnny Football or Clowney. Heading home the next week to play the Jags is equally as enticing for the exact same reason.

Weeks 3, 4, and 5 are all going to be tough. DeSean’s first game back in Philly vs that crazy Eagles team, then a short week vs an NFC East rival in the Giants, then another prime time game the next week vs Seattle.

To finish off the first half of the season, in Arizona, at home against Tennessee, and then at the Cowboys on Monday night. Those three could go either way. I think the Cards will regress from last season because Carson Palmer can’t possibly play at the same level as last season, the Titans should be bad, and the Cowboys have no D and will be awful.

The second half is a pain in the ass. A quick stop in Minny to play AP and the Vikes and whoever will be starting at QB at that time, a bye week, and then a tough run of games to finish the season. Tampa should be much improved, San Fran obviously are going to be great, as will the Colts. The Rams have the number 2 pick and are on the up and up, and then ending the season with three straight division games.

I think 9-7 is fair. If they can knock out that first half of the year then hold on during the second half, we should see them back in the playoffs this season, all depending on them staying healthy and all that. This team should be closer to 2012 when they went 10-6 than last year when they went 3-13. You can’t look at that schedule and expect them to go any worse than 8-8. Favorable schedule is favorable. Playing teams like the Vikings, Titans, and Bucs who could have QB issues, as well as the Cowboys twice who I think will be awful, and starting the season vs the Texans and Jaguars who will have rookies in key positions bodes well for this Skins team. Feeling optimistic as hail right now.
