Rick Moranis Is Coming Back After A TWENTY-THREE YEAR BREAK From Live-Action Movies

(Deadline) "EXCLUSIVE: We have confirmed that the SCTV alum and comedy star of such hit pics as Ghostbusters, The Flintstones, Spaceballs, Parenthood has closed a deal to return to the next Honey, I Shrunk the Kids sequel Shrunk. The movie will be made for the theatrical side, not Disney+.

Disney was trying to quiet rumors that Moranis was returning, but our breaking news today is that Rick Moranis’ deal, is a done deal.

As previously reported, the pic’s original director Joe Johnston will be back with Josh Gad also starring. The movie centers around Gad’s character who is the son of Rick Moranis’ Wayne Szalinski. Son is aspiring to be a great scientist like his father, but accidentally shrinks the kids."

I'm so ready to have Rick Moranis back in my life. While the 'Honey, I Shrunk the Kids' franchise doesn't have a huge place in my heart, a lot of Moranis' other work does. I mean, 'Spaceballs', 'Little Giants', 'Ghostbusters', 'The Flintstones'? Those were all staple clamshell-case VHS movies in my families wicker basket collection. Moranis story is actually pretty sad. He was at the height of his game when his wife Ann passed away from cancer, and he slowly started taking less roles before going on a full hiatus so he could focus on raising his kids. That's a great fucking dad right there. I can't really think of many actors/actresses that I think would willingly sacrifice their fame to focus on being a good parent instead of just getting a nanny or sending their kids to boarding school or whatever.

Also, I can't hear Rick Moranis's name without thinking of this video one of my Masshole friends from college made.
