Harley Quinn Movie Has Changed Its Dumb Title After It Flopped At The Box Office

Whoops! Who would have thought that a movie title of 'Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)' wouldn't work out too well?

The artist now known as 'Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey' had the worst opening for any DC Extended Universe movie at $33 million, a full $20 million behind 'Shazam!' (a movie with a far less recognizable character). So now, we have gone from this...

to this...

Too little too late? Probably. The movie title is for sure no the only reason this movie is floundering, but you have to figure it didn't help too much when it came to bringing in non-comic book movie fans in the opening weekend.

It's the longest movie title I have seen since this...

(This movie belongs in the National Film Registry)

Title changes for movies aren't unprecedented this late in the game. Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt's 'The Edge of Tomorrow' was changed to 'Live, Die, Repeat' in some cases... or the other way around? I don't know, I am still confused. The most famous movie title change happened just before the release of...

While the title change might help the movie online and in conversation, especially since they're going to clearly push the Harley Quinn name more than 'Birds of Prey', but the pre-release build-up for the movie was the biggest problem, in my opinion. The first trailer was widely disliked, even though the second trailer garnered a much more positive reaction. There is also the lingering stink from the character's association with the disaster that was 'Suicide Squad' from DC.

Regardless, if a movie has Margot Robbie, then I am going to give it a chance... but it seems as though that isn't the popular mainstream opinion.

(Reminder that Margot Robbie crushed the red carpet at the Oscars per usual...)
