It's Officially 'Best Shape of My Life' Season: Luke Voit Has 'Never Felt Any Better' As Spring Training Gets Cooking

NY Post

It's officially "Best Shape of My Life" season in the baseball world. Players are heading down to Florida or Arizona to begin workouts as things finally begin to ramp back up for teams. Everyone is feeling good after a long offseason of training. It's safe to say every single Yankee is as motivated as they've ever been for the upcoming 2020 season given how last year ended and the whole Astros cheating scandal coming to light. One guy in particular who has taken this offseason seriously has been Louis Linwood Voit III.

I think way too many people forget how good Voit was in the first half of the 2019 season. Through his first 78 games he was probably the starting first baseman for the American League All Star team: .280/.393/.509 17 homers 50 RBIs. He was everything the Yankees could have asked for at his position. Voit proved every person wrong who said that 2018 was a fluke. And of course, right on par with the whole 2019 Yankees narrative, Voit got hurt. After collecting his 4th hit against the Sox in London, Voit injured his core rounding first base. From that point on he was never the same. His dream season was derailed.

Voit sat out almost the entirety of August as he tried to avoid surgery and make his way back on the field. He gutted out September in hopes he could still contribute, but it was too much for even him to overcome. His bat slowed down and you could tell he wasn't the same. It killed him to not be a contributor in October.

He immediately got the surgery once the season ended and has worked his ass off in the gym to get to where he's at right now. He looks fucking terrifying.

Now as players are heading down for Spring Training, Luke says he's in the best shape of his life. He's never felt better. Voit says his strength is all the way back. I'm so excited to see him mash again.

ESPN really tried to rate this the 9th best lineup in baseball. Yikes.
