Cemetery Breaks the Bullshit Barrier, Calls a Murdered Soldier's Tombstone "Inappropriate"

WJLA – Eight months after an Ohio Army sergeant was murdered, her family is now dealing with blowback over the way they chose to honor their lost loved one. The controversy around 28-year-old Kimberly Walker’s grave site surrounds the choice of gravestone the family chose to install. It’s shaped like the popular cartoon character Spongebob Squarepants, a character Walker’s family says she loved. However, just a day after the Spongebob headstone was installed at the Spring Grove Cemetery earlier this month, officials from the cemetery called the family to tell them that it had to come down because it wasn’t appropriate. “She loved Spongebob, and he went everywhere from the curtains to the shower,” Deborah Walker, Kimberly’s mother, said. “Spongebob went in her casket before we laid her down in the ground.” Walker was murdered inside a hotel room in Colorado on Valentine’s Day after serving two tours of duty in Iraq. Her boyfriend is charged in her death.

For fucks sake, is this just the worst case of a power trip ever? The woman was murdered by her boyfriend after she served two tours in Iraq. But the thing she loved the most, Spongebob, is an inappropriate way for her family to grieve and show their respect? Spring Grove Cemetery should be honored Kimberly Walker is buried there. Instead, they want to make an issue out of nothing? There’s no logic to not allowing this. It’s saying “because I said so” for the sake of saying it. I can’t even compare it to anything because it’s so outrageous. RIP Sergeant Kimberly Walker, and we all wish you could swap places with whoever made this decision.
