San Diego's Mayor Officially Declares Feb. 1st Kawhi Leonard Day - For Being The First Person To Get His Jersey Retired At SDSU

I know people do these days all the time, but really I just wanted to talk about this because of Kawhi. Actually, let me correct this. I wanted to talk about Kawhi and the good old days of trying to watch west coast college hoops in the early 2010s. Specifically when Kawhi played Jimmer. It was AWESOME. You used to have to find some obscure network and watch what appeared to be standard definition to watch two of the best players and two of the best teams in the country.

The YouTube videos don't do it justice, but anyone who remembered searching for Versus Network to watch this understands. It was must-watch TV during that college hoops season. Hell, Kawhi was barely even known on a national level - nowhere near Jimmer obviously. He was just this really good player at SDSU that people wondered exactly how good he/they were.

It's actually a big game/day for San Diego State. The Aztecs are the last undefeated team in the country and sort of have a somewhat feel to Wichita State (not as good as their undefeated season) or Saint Joe's. They host Utah State, probably the 2nd best team in MWC - even though the Aggies might be the most disappointing team in the country this season. A win over them and they are close to cashing in an undefeated regular season. More importantly we get to hear Kawhi on the mic, which is always ELECTRIC.

Love that he still rocks the cornrows.
