The Patriarchy Responds To 'Vagina-Scented' Candles By Releasing A 'Penis-Scented' Candle At A Slightly Higher Price

Source - Days after Gwyneth Paltrow’s online store Goop sold out of a genitalia-themed candle, “This Smells Like My Vagina,” a penis-scented version has sprung up online.

Canadian ad agency Taxi unveiled the “This Smells Like My Penis” candle on its website Tuesday, but it’s not to make the boys feel more included.

Finally, a win for the patriarchy. Why did they do it?

The agency created the candle, which is nearly identical to the $75 Goop product but priced at $100, as a way to highlight the gender pay gap in Canada.

“This candle costs 25 percent more than its vagina-smelling equivalent,” the site reads, “because even though it’s illegal in Canada to pay women less than men, the gender pay gap smells as strong as ever.”

The pay gap, of course. I Some would argue that penises smell at least 25% better than vaginas thus justifying the higher price, but then again, I get what they’re trying to do.

Personally, I just want to smell both of them. According to the website, the vagina candle smells like geranium, citrusy bergamot and cedar and the penis candle smells…the same. Weird. I feel like I could smell the difference even if there is none, but that’s beside the point. Who knows? Maybe a gimmicky candle is exactly what the Canadian government needed to motivate them to finally pass some meaningful legislation!

I guess all we can do at this point is thank Gwyneth Paltrow. She inadvertently started a movement simply by trying to monetize her vagina. Well done, Gwen. Well done.
