Hayley Williams Just Dropped Her First Piece Of Solo Music Ever And It's AWESOME

I don't want to overstate this - because as all of my longtime readers know, I despise hyperbole - but Hayley Williams' first ever solo venture in 'Simmer' isn't only the best song released this year...it's the best song ever released.

Maybe I'm a tad biased, being Paramore is easily one of my all-time favorite bands, and I'd call Hayley Williams' voice my favorite in history (seriously, I'd listen to her sing the ABCs) but this is just so friggin good on so many levels I don't know how you couldn't fuck with it. From the production, to the bassline, to the songwriting, to the melody and singing itself, there's nothing I'm not blown away by and I'm already craving more of this sound.

It's also co-written and produced by Taylor York, guitarist of Paramore, so that should put to bed any ridiculous rumors of trouble in paradise between them. From my perspective, just lyrically, at least, this project feels waaaaaaay more personal to Ms. Williams and makes a lot of sense as a solo project.

I mean, she drops a, “If my child needed protection from a fucker like that man, I’d sooner gut him, 'cause nothing cuts like a mother”, for fuck's sake! I gasped!

Hayley's debut album 'Petals For Armor' is due out May 8th. Line up the GRAMMYs now.
