Criminals Alike Beware: Masked Vigilante, Night Watch, Is Now Patrolling The Streets

Source

He calls himself Night Watch, and he’s here to save us all.

Before I get into this I want to say something. I am extremely jealous of this. I've always wanted to get into vigilantism, ever since a young age. Sadly, I learned very quickly that most vigilantes are either very rich, very in shape, have gone through a very traumatic experience, gotten bitten by some radioactive bug or some combination of all of them. I don't have any of those things (the superhero I had in the works was the KampFire. I was gonna be a fire-based hero. I know, I suck)

Not Night Watch. Night Watch does it because he has to save us all.

"A hero can be anyone" - Batman, The Dark Knight Rises

Well, not really — but he’s certainly got people talking.

They always doubt the best.

Over the weekend, people kind of lost their shit on social media when they discovered that a masked crusader has taken up the crime-fighting mantle in Winston-Salem and has been patrolling the streets of downtown for about two weeks now.

Dressed in all black with a kind of ski mask and large reflective goggles that make him look a bit like a giant fly, Night Watch was first spotted by folks through his Instagram, @nightwatchrlsh — with the last part of his handle acting as an acronym for “real life superhero.” So far, he’s got 13 posts and more than 240 followers. Not bad for a 2-week-old account.

Posts range from selfies on downtown streets to information on missing persons, endorsements of local businesses, and most recently, a photo with a guy who recognized him from the aforementioned Facebook group where he’s garnered a reputation.

Nothing more than a fantastic community man and that's what vigilantism is all about. Helping those who need it the most. I actually wonder how many cases he has cracked. I know, silly question. All of the cases, he has solved all of the cases.

He documents his evergreen struggle with crime on his Instagram? I guess I'll take a look.

That last line in the third post.

"Whether I'm passing by the mural wall on Liberty Street or walking through Winston's tight alleyways, I love patrolling this city. I love helping people"

Just a real-life superhero looking out for the little guys. No big deal. I'm not sure about you guys he has definitely won me over with this Instagram. I am enthralled by this man. I wish there was something in my life that I loved as much as much Night Watch loves his city and the people inside of it. He even took some time to out of his very, very busy crime-fighting schedule to snap a couple of pics for the paparazzi.

A true man of the people. I wonder how the police handle this guy. Do they take him seriously or do they just write him off? Isn't vigilantism illegal? I need a video of this guy interacting with police more than I need air to breathe. I can picture it being extremely awkward.

sidenote - Night Watch needs to bolster his attire game. Jeans and Chuck Taylors? For a superhero? I can't tell if that the most common man move of all time or he just isn't capitalizing on this opportunity.

When asked about his newfound penchant for patrolling the night, Night Watch responded through Instagram messages that while he has only recently started wearing a mask, he’s actually been doing this kind of work for a while.

He puts on a mask and all of a sudden he's going semi-viral. However, unlike Bane from The Dark Knight Rises, Night Watch uses his mask for good. It only benefits the people, rather than harming them. The main takeaway I have from all this is that we need more people like Night Watch. People who care, people who's passion for their city and justice outweighs all else. We need more vigilantes. We need more Night Watch.
