Is There Such a Thing as "Skunking" in Madden?

General Smitty and I played a little Madden the other day. I won the first game, but I'm sure by sheer coincidence, those clips didn't make it to social media. Anyway, in this game, Smitty chose to kick a field goal early in the second half instead of trying to score a touchdown because he was under the impression this ended the game.

What kind of dumb shit is that? A three-possession lead means the game is over? Are you insane?

I really wish that's how football worked, because the Falcons would have a Super Bowl ring. I suppose we should have ended the Texans—Chiefs game too and had Houston in the AFC Championship Game.

Nearly everyone agreed with me that Smitty is a dullard and this is not a real thing.

After falling behind 21-0 — playing as poorly as possible — I immediately scored two touchdowns to make it a one-score game with a full quarter to go. So even by the standards of whose who do play by these rules, I was still correct. Imagine if we just ended that game because Smitty was scared to continue? I immediately scored after falling behind 21-0, which renders and skunk moot — and that's if that even was a real thing, which it most certainly is not.

What do y'all think?
