We May Have Seen The End Of Patrick Stewart As Professor X

(Digital Spy) "I met with Kevin Feige a couple of months ago and we had long, long conversations," he explained. "And there have been moves and suggestions, which include Charles Xavier."

"Here's the problem... If we had not made Logan, then yes, I would probably be ready to get into that wheelchair one more time and be Charles Xavier. But Logan changed all that."

Stewart goes on to tell an anecdote about how he found himself tearing up at a packed-out screening of 'Logan' alongside Hugh Jackman. Saying "We were moved by the story. We were moved by one another. We were moved by the movie. But we also both made the decision that we were saying goodbye to our characters as well. In that sense, it was not just the deaths of those two men in the franchise, but it was also goodbye to our part in them as well."

This is a really bittersweet moment for a character and portrayal that I have really liked over the years. You can say whatever you want about the X-Men universe of films, but I won't accept any slander of Stewart's performances in any of them. He has been a rock for a franchise that has gone through some tough times (critically, not financially), and always given his all to this weird but loveable progenitor to the modern comic book movie era. The one thing that makes me happy is that both Stewart and Jackman got to go out on 'Logan', which is arguably the best comic book movie ever and easily in my top 3 alongside 'The Dark Knight' and 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse'. It's a crazy neo-western thrill with has insane R-rated action, really sad and dramatic moments and some of the best cinematography I've seen in the genre.

As a little footnote of comic movie news: Michelle Yeoh MAY have been added to the cast of 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' according to the "Hot Scoop or Shot of Poop" segment from our friends at the Weekly Planet. This would be a pretty awesome addition to a budding cast, and she is a total bad-ass in basically every role I have ever seen her in. From her well known action roles like 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' and 'Tomorrow Never Dies', even down to the badass Eleanor in 'Crazy Rich Asians'. Yeoh has already had a cameo at the end of Guardians 2 as Aleta Ogord, who is part of the team in the comic books. If this rumor is true, that character would likely be re-cast. James Gunn hasn't written the script yet since he is busy at work with 'The Suicide Squad', so anything is possible there.
