Shake Shack Going All Out For Its 10th Anniversary

Shake_Shack_Madison_Square

Thrillist – Shake Shack’s 10th anniversary is this week, and they’re blowing it out in Madison Square Park with five days of totally exclusive new burgers, all of which’re collaborations with totally famous chefs (like momofuku‘s David Chang, The Spotted Pigand The Breslin‘s April Bloomfield, and Daniel Humm from Eleven Madison Park… one of the best restaurants in the world).

We’ve got a sneak peek of them below, with details on which exclusive burger they’re doing on which day. Oh, and plan to get there early — they’re only gonna make ‘em until they sell out!

Monday – The Piggie Shack by Daniel Boulud –  Pulled pork, jalapeño mayo, and mustard vinegar slaw.

Tuesday – Shrimp Stack by David Chang – a smoked and griddled shrimp patty, momofuku Hozon sauce (which tastes like Thousand Island), pickled onion, and salted cucumber.

Wednesday – The Cabrito Butter Burger by Andrew Zimmern – The butter is herbed and the meat is goat, and it’s all finished off with charred onion and a sweet pickle, giving it an almost kabab-esque flavor.

Thursday – The Humm Burger by Daniel Humm – Gruyere is melted on top of this “Earthy” burger, which’s also piled with black truffle mayo, celery relish, applewood-smoked bacon, and fresh-shaved black truffles.

Friday – The Breslin Burger by April Bloomfield – Breslin blend of beef, topped with bacon (“a lot of bacon”, according to Shake Shack) that’s cooked a little less crisp than usual, and messied up with Tickler cheddar cheese sauce. It’s “essentially a classic bacon cheeseburger”.

Bonus things going down on their actual anniversary (June 12th): A 6ft x 6ft cake made by Cronut master Dominique Ansel, which will be given out for free to people in line. There’ll also be bands all day long, and the resurgence of their original hot dog cart, which’ll be operating on a pay-what-you-want basis. If you’re picking just one day to go, this is it.

I think by now most everyone agrees on what Shake Shack is and what it isn’t. What it is, is a good burger joint with some tasty burgers, some delicious milkshakes and some meh french fries. What it isn’t, is a place thats worth waiting on line for like 75 minutes. To be perfectly honest, I don’t think there’s any food in the world worth standing there like a fucking asshole with your dick in your hand for over an hour. Whether its cronuts or Shake Shack or some fancy bougie restaurant, I don’t think I can tolerate standing there like a dick waiting that long anymore.

But these burgers are a Shake Shack curveball. For their 10th anniversary they’re basically serving burgers that are completely different than any burger they usually serve. To honor 10 years of Shake Shack here are burgers cooked by people from completely different restaurants! I’m sure they’re all pretty delicious (except for that Cabrito Burger, that looks weird as fuck) but to be honest I’m not big into a lot of this gourmet shit. I just like a good old fashioned American Cheeseburger. I don’t need truffles and cucumbers and goat meat and shit. Give me a juicy burger with some cheese, maybe some bacon or ham, and some tasty condiments. Oh and the bun. Make sure its soaked in the potato water.

PS – There probably definitely won’t be long lines at all this week at Shake Shack. Definitely not.
