Mayors Of NY & LA Step Up With A Legitimate Stanley Cup Bet

Mayors

Mayor’s OfficePreceding Game 1 of the 2014 Stanley Cup Final, Mayor Bill de Blasio today announced a bet with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. If the New York Rangers win, Mayor Garcetti will help perform a rendition of Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! If the Los Angeles Kings win, Mayor de Blasio will help perform a rendition of Randy Newman’s “I Love LA” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! “Start spreading the news, it’s been over 20 years since the Stanley Cup has found its home in New York City, and we look forward to it making its way here,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio. “Let’s go Rangers.” “Looks like another perfect day—for the Kings to take home the Stanley Cup,” Mayor Eric Garcetti said. “From the west side to the east side, the Kings will reign. Go Kings Go!”

‘Atta boy, mayors. Fuck that stupid governor’s bet with rice cakes & marinade. Mayor de Blasio & Mayor Garcetti put something legitimate on the line – their pride. I’m guessing neither of these guys are stellar vocalists, and there’s not much worse than singing in public if you can’t sing. I’d rather fight The Mountain blindfolded than ever do karaoke. Maybe the mayors don’t feel as strongly about it as I do, but still, at least in this bet the loser really does lose something. de Blasio loses a LOT more though. Singing a classic like “New York, New York”…

…is a cakewalk compared to belting out “I Love LA”.

It’ll be douche chill city for anyone watching de Blasio’s performance of this joke. LA sucks, their song sucks, and if the Rangers don’t turn things around quickly it’s gonna REALLY suck for our boy Bill.
