Time We Give Jeopardy Julia Her Proper Respect

(NEWSER) – Answer: She predicted in her eighth grade yearbook that she would someday be a Jeopardy!champion. Question: Who is Julia Collins? Collins, a 31-year-old resident of the Chicago suburb of Wilmette, has made good on her prediction, and then some. On the episode that aired yesterday, she became the third person in Jeopardy! history to win as many as 17 consecutive non-tournament games, earning her a total of $372,700 and making her the show’s winningest woman. “I went into this feeling like I could win a show and put in a good effort … but this, it’s kind of a daydream come true,” Collins said. Sworn to secrecy about shows that haven’t aired, she won’t say if she wins her 18th straight game, which airs today, or whether she will go for the 19th win on tomorrow’s show, which would tie her for second all-time in consecutive wins. Her chuckle, however, suggests she hasn’t caught the all-time winningest contestant, Ken Jennings, who won 74 straight games.

Is she a cocky fat black dude with an afro like Colby Burnett? Nope. Is she a smug Asian who loved the spotlight like Arthur Chu? Definitely not. She’s just Jeopardy Julia and all she does is fucking win. I’m not even sure she’s human half the time. She’s an assassin on the buzzer and she absolutely massacres here opponents. Last night she was up by about 25 grand and her two opponents almost didn’t even make it to Final Jeopardy with negative money.

There’s nothing sexy about her style of play. There’s no funny angle here. I don’t like or or hate her. I just respect the shit out of her. She’s pushing $400,000 in winnings – most ever for a woman. Only the third person ever to win 17 in a row. She’s already blown Arthur Chu out of the water and I feel like she’s not getting the respect she deserves simply because she’s just a normal woman. Well not on my watch. Everyone bow down before Jeopardy Julia. She’s a force of nature.
