The Preds Might Just Actually Be Bad

Damn. This is really the first time I'm having to admit to myself that this team frankly just isn't very good and probably isn't going to make the playoffs.

The Preds came back home just a few points out of a wild card spot after winning two of their last three and Anaheim — fresh off four straight losses and last in points in the Western Conference — came into Bridgestone Arena and took it to Nashville. Not exactly the performance of an inspired team looking to make a playoff push.

I thought there were a few signs in the last couple wins that John Hynes sort of had things tilting a different direction and that maybe this team had gotten the change of scenery it needed, but it's becoming more and more difficult to make that argument. I don't know how much longer I can continue convincing myself that once Colton Sissons and Ryan Ellis get back that anything will change, but I guess I'll keep trying that strategy just so I have something to cling to until baseball season starts.

Damn it, this sucks. This is supposed to be the one team I can count on to be in the playoff mix and championship conversation and now they suck, too. The All-Star break is my last vestige of hope. Maybe after a week off, these guys can muster up whatever little bit of magic they have left in them and turn this thing around.

Go Preds.
