The Blackhawks Are Making A Playoff Push Right In Everyone's Face

Three in a row. 6-1 in their last 7 road games. 10-5 in the last month. And only FOUR fucking points out of a Wild Card spot.

They’ve jumped the Preds. They’re creeping up on the Golden Knights. They’re not knocking on the door of the playoffs, but they’re close. They’re kind like slowing down in the car and looking at the address. They know how to get there. The Hawks are approaching the playoffs. It’s unbelievable. You’re probably feeling a lot of things. You’re probably confused. You’re probably scared. You don’t want to get hurt again. You want the team to win, but you also want Stan to be fired. Well you’ve come to the right place.

Firstly, it’s okay to want the team to do well and to want to fire Stan Bowman. Realistically, anyone should be able to realize that when you’ve got players like Toews and Kane playing at their absolute peak that simply making the playoffs isn’t good enough. Those two are good enough to be the best players on the best team. True super stars. You can’t waste guys like that. Losing in the first round would be a complete failure. At least that is what Stan Bowman said after the Nashville series when the Hawks lost in the first round of 2017. Zero playoff wins in 5 years is still grounds for termination.

Is it safe to believe? I can’t lie to you guys. I don’t know. I see a team that is playing really well right now. Competing hard. Gaining ground. But….they’re doing it against teams who aren’t going to be in the playoffs. Then on the other hand…the Hawks have been so beat up during this run, but reinforcements are coming. Caggiula is back and making an impact. Saad is getting close. Strome is too. They both might play Sunday against Toronto. That is three guys who can play in your top 9. That is huge. BUT…the schedule is getting tougher. The next three games are against teams ahead of them in the standings. Then there’s the bye week and All-Star Break. When the Hawks start back up again on February 1st after 10 days off they have a month of being on the road. 11 road games and 3 home games in all of February. And the trade deadline is 2/24. So no, I don’t know if it’s safe. It’s probably not. Who cares. I am jumping on board. It’s fun to be reckless.

Here is what I know…winning is better than losing. I will never be a tank guy. I will never root against the team just because I want Stan and John to be fired. I think the Wirtz family probably knows that the culture on the business side isn’t great right now and neither is the product on the ice. They have enough reasoning to make real changes this off-season. That’s a problem for the future. Right now I want to enjoy a playoff chase with Kane, Toews, Keith, Crawford, and Lehner. Those guys are special players and I’ll never miss a chance to watch them. Kane coming up on 1000 points. I say he gets it Sunday vs the Leafs and the Hawks get two more points. #JoinOrDie
