The Iowa State Fair Just Unveiled New Food Items That Are Set To Debut This Year And Give Us All Diabetes
Fox News- The food at the Iowa State Fair is for the adventurous eater. And this year they’ll have a whole new batch of items to chomp on while checking out the fair exhibits, livestock, and people. Over 1 million people flock to the fair grounds each year, and over-the-top food items are a huge draw –generating sales of nearly $10 million, say officials. There are about 200 vendors selling unique treats, including almost anything wrapped in or covered with bacon, mashed potato sundaes, deep fried Ho-Hos, and more. As part of a competition among fair concessioners, eight entries battled to be a top five finalist in the Iowa State Fair New Food Contest. Fairgoers will vote on their favorite during the fair and the top pick will get bragging rights for the next year.

That’s weird. But in short, it’s an annual event held in Des Moines where people flock from far and wide to experience what Iowa has to offer. There’s nightly concerts, car races, tractor pulls and monster truck events. Pretty much everything your Iowa heart wants and deserves rolled up into one big event. Oh and there’s food. A fuck ton of food. At it’s core the Iowa State Fair really is just a 10-day event where people go to eat some of the craziest, most deep fried, most unhealthy foods you’ve ever heard of or seen in your entire life. Annnnnnd I’m hard. I’ll crush every single one of those items and ask for more. Say what you want about Iowa but don’t you ever say we don’t know how to make completely outrageous foods and then host an event where it’s socially acceptable to eat said foods over and over again. It’s really the thing we’re best at. Be more jealous that you live somewhere that’s not Iowa. You can’t.
