My Former Intern Will be on Chopped Tomorrow night. They Grow Up So Fast.

I randomly met Chef Donny at the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea. He was wandering around Asia by himself instead of doing a traditional semester abroad and was rapidly running out of a money due to some sort of cryptocurrency scam. Tale as old as time. Luckily I was in desperate need for some behind the scenes help so agreed to bring him on as my intern for a month if he was willing to relocate to China.

One of the first things he told me was that he ran a catering business in college and had been invited on the show CHOPPED in June for an undergraduate edition of the show.  To help him prep we filmed some episodes of “Barstool Chopped” in my Shanghai apartment.

Pretty sure as soon as these videos dropped someone from the food network reached out to Donny and told him that while funny he should immediately stop making future episodes. Something about blatant copyright infringement.

Anyways he went on the show that June and has somehow resisted breaking the non-disclosure agreement he was forced to sign as two years later I still have legitimately no idea how it went for him. Tomorrow at 9PM on the Food Network we will find out though and I’d like to think he felt just a little bit more comfortable when the cameras started rolling due to the shitty Chopped parody vids we filmed years ago in my kitchen.
