The Bruins Blow Out The Capitals 7-3!!!

The Boston Bruins have won a hockey game. I repeat, the Boston Bruins have won a hockey game! After dropping the last 3 in OT/SO the B's blew out the Capitals 7-3 at TD Garden tonight in the last game of their home stand. A four goal first period kickstarted the B's as they finally get back in the win column.

Jake DeBrusk opened the scoring on the PP, great patience from JD. 1-0 Bruins.

Brad Marchand crashed the net from a shot from David Pastrnak and buried it past Braden Holtby. 2-0 Bruins.

Marchand hadn't scored since November 27th vs. Ottawa. Monkey... gone.

Anders Bjork made it 3-0 literally seconds after. 3-0 Bruins.

Patrice Bergeron (who else?) extended the Bruins lead to 4-0 on the 5 on 3 advantage. 4-0 Bruins after 1.

The Capitals pulled Braden Holtby after the 1st period, Ilya Samsonov in net for the rest of the game.

Charlie Coyle scores his 100th career NHL goal in the 2nd, shorthanded. 5-0 Bruins.

Alex Ovechkin pulled the Caps within 4 with a quick shot from the slot. 5-1 Bruins.

The Bruins got outshot 17-2 in the 2nd, but both teams scored a goal.

Lars Eller pulled the Caps within 3 with 4:31 to go in the 3rd. Caps were on a PP after David Pastrnak and Tom Wilson went after each other, Eller scored right after the man advantage expired.

In case you were wondering why the B's were shorthanded - David Pastrnak and Tom Wilson got into it, with Wilson getting tacked with a 10 minute misconduct, somehow the Bruins were shorthanded, probably because Pasta initiated. I love and don't love David Pastrnak standing up for himself.

Sean Kuraly went hard in on the forecheck and found David Krejci for the empty netter. 6-2 Bruins.

Garnet Hathaway made it 6-3 with 2:13 left in the 3rd. Not a great goal for the Bruins to give up.

Patrice Bergeron with his 2nd of the game, empty netter. 7-3 Bruins.

FINAL: Boston 7, Washington 3News, notes and quotes:

- Hell of a first period. First time all season the Bruins have scored 4 first period goals. Great jump tonight.

- Team effort - SECONDARY SCORING in full effect tonight.

- Brad Marchand finally got the monkey off his back. His first goal in 12 games (dating back to Nov. 27th). Nice to see him back on the scoresheet.

- I think the power play is back? Not one but TWO PPGs tonight. They've quietly been getting production on the PP in these last 5 games.

- Anders Bjork played on the right side with Charlie Coyle and Sean Kuraly tonight. He's been making things happen on both sides of the ice, responsible defensively and now the goals are starting to come. Perhaps the B's give him a look after the break with 37 + 63. Worth trying.

- Torey Krug left the game in the 2nd and did not return. Bruins ruled him out with an upper body injury after this hit from Tom Wilson. Hopefully not serious.

- TJ Oshie barreld into Charlie McAvoy in the dying minutes of the game. Hopefully McAvoy is okay, went down the tunnel. Looks like Chuckie was leaning and Oshie just finished his hit. These two teams absolutely hate eachother. Getting blown out? Time to send a message!

- Didn't love the last half of the game for the B's, felt like they mailed it in at times, but when you have such a big lead it's understandable. The Hathaway goal late in the 3rd was just miscommunication. Fixable.

- No Zdeno Chara? No problem. John Moore skated alongside Charlie McAvoy and led all defenseman with 26:40 of TOI.

- Tuukka Rask made some key saves despite the early blow out. Finished the night making 39 of 42 saves.

2 big points against the Washington Capitals. Hopefully we meet in the post season, would be one hell of a series. Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah, the B's are back in the win column.

It was a great night to win a hockey game.
