Bruins Piss Away The Extra Point By Blowing 3rd Period Lead And Losing In OT To The LA Kings

Despite being the better team all night, the Bruins blew a late 3rd period lead and lost in OT to the LA Kings and in doing so, pissed away the extra point. 4-3 final (OT) at TD Garden on Tuesday night.

Two minutes into the game the Bruins were penalized for too many men and the Kings opened the scoring on the PP.

Blake Lizzotte with the redirect made it 1-0 Kings. Truth Hurts.

Sean Kuraly with a wide open net and he just sailed it over the cross bar. No idea how he didn't score there.

Danton Heinen scored a late period PPG to tie the game 1-1 after 1. Great feed from Brad Marchand. Went to review but there was no distinct kicking motion.

Jake DeBrusk drew an early hooking penalty…

aaaaand a bad poke check by David Pastrnak led to Adrian Kempe making it 2-1 Kings…. shorthanded.

Patrice Bergeron tied things up midway through the 2nd from the top of the slot. 2-2.

Brandon Carlo threw a puck on net from DOWN TOWN and made it 3-2 Bruins early in the 3rd.

With the goalie pulled, Matt Roy scored from the blue line basically to tie the game for the Kings and send the game into OT. 3-3.

Charlie McAvoy, Anders Bjork and Patrice Bergeron all had chances to put the Kings away in OT but it ends up going to Anze Kopitar who beats Tuukka Rask on a 2 on 1.

FINAL: Los Angeles 4, Boston 3News, notes and quotes:

- The Bruins had chance after chance to put the Kings away before blowing their 3rd period lead and eventually losing in OT. Frustrating. The Bruins were the better team all night but couldn't get the job done.

- Charlie Coyle got his 2nd straight look as 2nd line RW, he just possesses the puck so well and has elevated that line. Talked with RA about this today on my podcast, he's much better suited as 3C but he's playing well with Krejci and DeBrusk.

- Great game from Danton Heinen tonight and he got rewarded with it with a PPG. (Yeah I know it went off his foot). More importantly, the Bruins scored a PPG! Despite their 1st opportunity cashing in, the PP still hasn't looked like it's usual self.

- Patrice Bergeron scored, again. Almost had the OT winner. Instead it goes the other way for Kopitar to end it.

- If you told me Brandon Carlo would have 3 goals at this point of the season and Charlie McAvoy would have 0 I would have called you a liar. Going to speak a McAvoy goal into existence every game. He had a great shift in OT and almost potted his first in OT.

- If the Bruins don't sign Kovalchuk, my No. 1 target is Tyler Toffoli. He had an assist on Blake Lizotte's first period goal and he'd just look great on Krejci's wing.

- Tuukka Rask made 23 of 27 saves. Not sure if the Roy goal late in the 3rd to tie for the Kings was redirected or not. But a soft goal. Thought both goalies didn't have great nights. 39 shots on Quick and only 3 goals to show for it. Should have been plenty more.

- Nothing makes me angrier than leaving point(s) on the table. Nothing. The B's have now lost 6 of their last 7 games.

B's are back on Thursday night against the Islanders.

Dropped a new podcast with Rear Admiral today. Have a listen.
