The Boston Bruins Have Lost 5 Straight Games.

5 straight losses. Despite jumping out to an early 1-0 lead, a pair of power play goals and Steven Stamkos doing Steven Stamkos things doomed the Bruins. They made it close in the 3rd but ultimately fell short in an entertaining game in Tampa Bay. 5 straight losses, FUCK.

Quick fight between Zdeno Chara and Pat Maroon opened the game. Chara with his 2nd fight in as many games.

Early in the 1st Patrice Bergeron finished a wrap around from Brad Marchand to make it 1-0.

Steven Stamkos blasted home a PPG off the face off midway through the 2nd. John Moore in the box for tripping.

Stamkos left completely wide open. Not great! 1-1.

With Sean Kuraly in the box for hooking Brayden Point gave the Lightning the lead. 2-1 Bolts.

Charlie McAvoy drew a hooking penalty and the Bruins had a chance to tie the game but instead mustered up maybe the worst PP I've seen this year. Just couldn't enter the zone to save their lives.

The Bruins couldn't clear the puck out and guess who made it 3-1? Steven Stamkos. Dagger.

John Moore scored with 3:15 to go in the 3rd to cut the Lightning lead to 1.

FINAL: Tampa Bay 3, Boston 2News, notes and quotes:

- Patrice Bergeron once again on the scoresheet. Should have 3 goals in 3 games if his PPG in Washington didn't get wiped off the board. Wasn't in a great position on that Point PPG but alas.

- The first power play opportunity looked better than most, but when McAvoy drew a penalty in the 3rd they could not for the life of them enter the zone. I asked Billy Jaffe what was going wrong on today's podcast and here's what he had to say.

As for the penalty kill tonight? Actually bad.

- Brutal tripping penalty on John Moore who has had a tough return to the lineup (summer shoulder surgery). Didn't play a shift in the 2nd after his penalty led to Stamkos tying the game. I'm sure we'll see Clifton play Saturday night against the Panthers. I know Moore scored late in the game, but I don't think it's enough to save him.

- Charlie McAvoy was feeling it tonight. When you show up to the rink like this you know you're gonna play well. Drew a penalty in the 3rd. By far his best game of the season. Still looking for his first goal of the season, but it'll come.

- Once again, Brett Ritchie disappointed. Bruce Cassidy had no choice but to put Charlie Coyle with David Krejci and Jake DeBrusk. Hey Donny, go get Krejci some help, please.

- Tuukka Rask did everything he can to help the Bruins win tonight. This save on Kucherov was unworldly before Point's eventual PPG. Not sure who Bruce will go with against the Panthers but I'd go with TR40.

Penalty kill failed them, power play failed them. Entertaining game but ultimately it's their 5th straight loss and they'll look to go into Sunrise, Florida and snap that streak on Saturday night against the Panthers. The world is not ending, yet. But fuck does this suck.
