With Tonight's Loss The Boston Bruins Are Now 1-12-4 In Their Last 17 Games Against The Washington Capitals, 1-12-4!!!!
Despite a solid start, the Boston Bruins fell to the Washington Capitals 3-2 to mark their 4th straight loss. They are now a whopping 1-12-4 against the Caps in their last 17 meetings.
David Pastrnak snapped his 4 game goalless streak with this nasty snipe in the 1st period. 1-0 Bruins.
Zdeno Chara and Tom Wilson dropped the gloves for a heavyweight bout. Chara didn't love the crosscheck from Wilson and he let him know. Good bout, Wilson held his own.
Patrice Bergeron thought he made it 2-0 on the PP but Jake DeBrusk was ruled offsides after a coaches challenge by Washington. Which fucking sucks because the PP has struggled, I guess a small victory they know what it's like to score a PPG again.
TJ Oshie tied the game in the 2nd on the PP after a bullshit "interference" penalty on Chris Wagner.
He then did THIS to give the Caps the 2-1 lead. Jesus Christ what a goal. Cliffy and Chuckie:
The Bruins came out with some jump in the 3rd but couldn't convert on an early PP.
Sean Kuraly redirected a shot from Torey Krug to tie the game briefly at 2.
John Carlson quickly made it 3-2 Caps. No chance for Halak. Screened in front and for some reason the Bruins just left him wide open?
Despite a few more PP chances, the Bruins couldn't find the back of the net. 4th straight loss.
FINAL: Washington 3, Boston 2
News, notes and quotes:
- The Caps were 15-0-1 in their last 16 games against the Bruins heading into tonight, now 16-0-1.
- Patrice Bergeron had a goal called back on offsides (B's would have been up 2-0), holy fuck, I'm tired of them taking goals off the board, especially when it has no bearing on the play. DeBrusk's skate being a hair off had no impact on Patrice Bergeron scoring and that's the tea.
- Speaking of the PP, 0 for 5 tonight. Good for them to kind of get a feel for scoring on the man up with PB37 getting a goal called back but man. What was once a weapon has gone dry.
- David Pastrnak snapped his 4 game goalless streak.
- Really liked Anders Bjork game tonight. Not Danton Heinen's best game.
- Connor Clifton returned to the lineup tonight with John Moore sitting. He got turned inside out on a sick goal by Oshie. Oshie just took over in the 2nd and the Bruins had no answers.
- John Carlson has my vote (until further notice) for MVP.
The Bruins will look to bounce back tomorrow night in Tampa Bay. Tuukka Rask in net. I suspect Moore in for Clifton and perhaps Backes in for Ritchie? TBD.
