This Child Prodigy Is Such A Wuss For Dropping Out Of College

WGN - Child prodigy Laurent Simons, 9, has left his university course, following a dispute over his graduation date.

Laurent, 9, made world headlines in November when news emerged that he was due to finish his studies in electrical engineering at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TUE) in the Netherlands in December.

Now, a dispute between TUE and the Simons family has seen Laurent terminate his studies without graduating.

TUE said it had recommended Laurent finish his studies by mid-2020, rather than at the end of December, because of the number of exams he still has to pass.

TUE said Laurent’s father, Alexander Simons, had “repeated his explicit wish that his son should obtain his bachelor degree at the age of 9, which means that Laurent must successfully complete his bachelor within ten months for a study that normally lasts three years.”

“We don’t want to have pressure on him,” he said.

Grow some balls dude one time. I know college isn't for everybody but you can't just show up for a few semesters and call it quits just because you don't love the mandatory course load. Every college student goes through the same shit. You think I wanted to to take Atmospheric Sciences 120 or Oceanography 107? Think anyone wants to take two rhetoric courses their first year on a Big Ten campus? I mean give me a fucking break kid. Everybody has some bullshit they need to deal with. Now take your schedule and go pledge the Sigma Chi house next semester and tell me how hard you have it. Try balancing that with budding alcoholism and an insatiable thirst for consensual yet noncommittal sex. Throw in a pregnancy scare and some hot piss every other semester. Go broke over a couple drinking tickets. Have at least one I'm Concerned About Your Future conversation with your parents or at the very least, blackout at multiple semi-formals before you come calling to me about the challenges of college.

Once you take all that stuff away though I guess you really are just left with a few months of solid work. Why anyone would want that shit when you're 9 years old is beyond me. Someone throw these parents in the lake. Don't want to pressure him my fucking ass buddy. If that were the case then you'd do the right thing and let him transfer to Eastern Illinois. That's No Pressure Academia and if you really cared about your kid, he'd be a Panther tomorrow.
