Brady and Edelman Take to The 'Gram to Make it Known They Are Not Defeated

Monday morning I was on Barstool Breakfast and the guys were, out of the goodness of their hearts and concern for me, trying to get a handle on my mental state after a tough Patriots loss. Bless them. And as I told them then, Patriots losses are rare. Where I come from, we’re not used to them. So catch me the morning after one and I’m in an emotional state that I need to work through. It’s all part of the natural biorhythm of the season. And that by midweek, I’ll no doubt be confident that the Chiefs game will be one of the classic bounceback games their giant pile of silver, football-shaped trophies is built upon. Well here are two perfect examples why.

The whole nation looked on while he tore into his receiving core for not getting into their routes better and start attacking the coverage in an obscenity-laced rant:

So naturally, everyone jumps to the conclusion Brady is walking around in a purple faced rage, seething with resentment because they didn’t draft him the next Gronk or because management took away his precious crackpot wideout that he only knew for a week.

So what does he do? He breaks out the inspirational quotes he no doubt carries in his brain at all times the way you might remember song lyrics or I remember lines from 80s movies. And he sends a reminder to everyone – the public, his teammates and his opponents – who his team is. That the franchise he has let to unprecedented success doesn’t quit, exclamation point and all. And naturally, like the GOAT’s best friend that Julian Edelman is, he feels his pal’s feelings, follows his lead and comes out with his own version “What he said.”

This is Leadership 101. Tear them down and then build them back up again. In your own image. Better than they were before. It’s how winning is done. Edelman knows it. Tedy Bruschi has lived it with him. And Rory McIlroy has seen it. It’s how Brady has always done it. So much so, he could almost patent this. Its like his own personal D.E.N.N.I.S. System.

Only except, instead of being about seducing women, into the bedroom, it’s about seducing football players into coming together, being better than they thought the could be an achieving greatness.

G - Get in teammates’ faces.

O - Ostracize anyone who’s not getting the job done to your standards.

A - Admonish them to do better, loudly and on national television.

T - Team-building.

It’s not even midweek and this already has me feeling good about Sunday against the Chiefs. #OntoKC #KeepGoing
