Look I like Mariano Rivera just fine. He and Jeter are the only two Yankees I can think of, off the top of my head, that I never hated with a passion unseen in other areas of my life. He’s the GOAT and that’s not debatable. But give me a fucking break with this shit, everyone.
This isn’t the All Star game. These games matter. We’re still AL East foes. We’re still battling to make the playoffs. For fucks sake this isn’t even Mo’s last series in Boston! The Yankees are in town both in August and September. So let’s press pause on washing his balls for a bit. If you want to give him a golf clap in September when the Sox have clinched a playoff spot and the Yanks are in the AL East basement, I’m OK with that. But there’s no need to be singing Enter Sandman to the guy while he orders a steak on a Saturday night in July. There’s no need for standing ovations when he’s coming out to close the book on a Red Sox LOSS. It’s honestly disgusting.
