"The Thong Song" Is The Most Important And Influential Song To Come Out In The Last 20 Years

I couldn't let today pass without wishing a happy 20th birthday to the most important song of the last 2 decades- The Thong Song. Kids today have no idea how important this song, and video, was to my generation. We didn't have easy access to all of life's pleasantries (see: porn, internet) at the tips of our fingers. We had to watch  scrambled Cinemax at 11:30 at night to try and catch a glimpse of a boob. Or if you were lucky, your friend Dean's parents were getting divorced and he would steal one of his dad's Playboys. But that was it.

And then The Thong Song came out and introduced us to a whole new world. We knew thongs existed, but didn't know women actually wore them. Sisqo flipped our brains and turned them inside out. When Thong Song came on MTV you would run to your VCR and hit record as fast as possible. I mean Sisqo prancing up and down the beach singing the praises of girl shakin' their asses, it was unlike anything we'd ever seen.

I think I'll sing it again

I remember us having intellectual lunch table conversations about what "dumps like a truck, truck, truck" meant. To be honest I'm still not sure of the answer.

And the worst part? I tried to buy this CD from Best Buy but wasn't allowed to because it had the Parental Advisory sticker on it. I was DEVASTATED.

And then we started watching Howard Stern and Wild On E! and it was OVER for us. Absolutely over.
