Luis Robert's Swing Is Baseball Porn

The body of the 2019 baseball season isn’t even really cold yet and here I am blogging Luis Robert batting cage hacks and begging for 2020 to get here.  I’m like a heroin addict that needs his fix.

Chicago sports are in goddamn purgatory right now.  The Bulls give away 4th quarter double digit leads like it’s their job, the Hawks are wasting the last few prime years of Kane and Toews, the Bears… well I’m not even gonna talk about them.  Or Northwestern.  Just an awful year for the City.  Funny enough, come February/March 2020 the Sox could very well be on the best trajectory of all these teams listed.

And Luis Robert is one reason why.  His swing is baseball porn. He gets so much torque in his core it’s absurd.  That’s why it looks like he’s swinging a whiffle ball bat:

he’s hardly using his arms at all and not even trying to swing hard.  Just relying on a chain reaction of energy that starts at his feet, works his way up his legs and turns his core into the fulcrum of a catapult that allows the barrel to travel through the zone at light speed.  It’s a goddamn thing of beauty.  The raw power is real and it’s spectacular.

Last step in his development is just learning how to operate his brain.  He was still too swing happy in AAA.  I got crucified for it last year, but I think Big League pitching exposes him from the start.  Don’t shoot the messenger.  But when he does figure out how to lay off that breaking pitch down/out the sky is the limit.

That said, Steamer projections already have him going off for a 25/25 season in 2020:

and as is tradition, White Sox fans are already spooging their pants on what a potential 2020 lineup will look like after this winter.  Many have it going something like this:

1. Robert CF
2. Moncada 3B
3. Abreu 1B
4. Eloy LF
5. Joe Pederson RF
6. Castellanos DH
7. Grandal C
8. Anderson SS
9. Madrigal 2B

Looks good to me!  AKA I can’t wait to wind up with Kole Calhoun in RF, Blake Swihart as a backup C/OF, and Edwin Encarnacion at DH.  Maybe sprinkle in a few MiLB deals on redemption projects.  Goddamnit.  This offseason is going to be torturous.  Please god, do not repeat winter 2018-19.  I cannot handle it, neither physically emotionally.
