The 2019-20 #Mickstape10 is Official

It is settled.

Offical #Mickstape10

1. Giannis Antetokounmpo

2. Kawhi Leonard

3. Lebron James

4. James Harden

5. Steph Curry

6. Anthony Davis

7. Nikola Jokic

8. Joel Embiid

9. Damian Lillard

10. Paul George

Final Thoughts

1. Tough crowd! Paul George made First Team All-NBA AND First Team All-Defense rounded out the top ten. He’s the fourth player in his city listed and even the second Clipper. Rough.

2. RIPIP Russell Westbrook and Kyrie Irving. Both cracked the top 10 last year, 8 for Russ and 10 for Kyrie. Both made All-NBA teams in real life, yet both came up short where it mattered: the #Mickstape10. Maybe next year, boys.

3. We erred on the side of adding new blood into the mix, probably a little soon with Luka. Though he was in two polls and didn’t bring up the rear in either. This may be the last year he doesn’t make an appearance.

4. Three of them switched teams this past offseason. Not this summer but next summer, the summer of 2021, could see half of them (Giannis, Kawhi, Lebron, George, and AD) all hit unrestricted free agency. Just something to note.

5. A healthy Durant would push one of the above guys out of the top ten, meaning Paul George (he that finished 3rd in MVP voting LAST SEASON) would be 11th. The league has a startling number of elite players right now. You didn’t hear that from me.

6. Of everyone listed here, who has the biggest chance of missing next year’s list? LeBron, for age? Steph, for health? Do PG’s shoulder’s fall completely off? Does turning THIRTY mean bad things for James Harden’s future? We shall see.

7. For the most part, I don’t have any disagreements with the list. But Kawhi Leonard comfortably feels like the best player in the league thus far. Giannis is next, and there’s a comfortable gap after that. Then everybody else.

8. Eight of these guys play out West, and KD going East but getting hurt is canceled out by Kawhi coming West and continuing a remarkable run of health. Brad Beal was wise to stay in the East, take the money and rack up the accolades.

9. Next year, when Doncic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander join the list that will mean half of the league’s top ten players will be imported. Hardly what Dr. Naismith had imagined!!!!!!!

10. How soon until Zion is here? 2021? 2023?

Have a good weekend, gang. Be safe out there and be sure to take every single #Pickstape pick to the bank!
