Gerrit Cole Was Inexplicably Not Used In Game 7 And Could Not Hit The Free Agent Market Any Quicker: "I'm Not An Employee of the Team"

Down go the apex predators. What a shame. After Zack Greinke's brilliant start, A.J. Hinch decided it would be a good idea to go with Will Harris and Roberto Osuna to bring home the W. There appeared to be a guy named Gerrit Cole available to go for multiple innings, but instead of going with the most dominant pitcher of 2019, Hinch opted to leave that man in the bullpen, behind this fence. A simple eye test would prove that Harris and Osuna are not Gerrit Cole, but hey, there's a reason Hinch is the manager and I'm not. Well, as the story goes Cole stayed behind this fence, trapped from participation, as the Astros bullpen blew the game and the series. 

As Buck Showalter learned in the 2016 Wild Card Game, not using your best pitcher in an elimination game will haunt you forever. The plan is simple. Let Didi Gregorius walk. Hope Aroldis opts out. Consider Ellsbury and Tanaka are off the books in one year. Use all of that money and make Gerrit Cole a New York Yankee. Drop your nuts on the table and be the Yankees. Both of these World Series teams rode great starting pitching to this point. Join them. Take Houston's king and make him your own. Be the Yankees. Everyone saying go after Lindor and Rendon? Why? The offense is completely fine. Using the money on those guys is wildly unnecessary to me. The bats had one bad series. All year they were unstoppable. It happens. The pitching needs a massive upgrade. CoIe is that upgrade.
