John Cena Takes Casual Break At Gym To Donate $500K To First Responders

You’ve probably seen enough photos & videos at this point to agree that the west coast looks more like a mega apocalypse movie than the Sunshine State right now. That’s because currently surrounding Los Angeles are the Tick, Palisades, Saddle Ridge, Getty, Old Water, Johnson, and Oak Fires. To the North of the state, the South, Burris, Caples and Kinkaid fires are raging as well.

Tens of thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes, and with the Santa Anna winds blowing gusts over many of these 11+ blazes, first responders are needed more than ever. In a controversial move, even prisoner inmate crews are being sent in to help with manpower.

And volunteers/responders from several surrounding states are traveling to help out as well.

Cue pro wrestler/actor John Cena to the rescue, who felt a connection since he has a movie coming out soon where he plays a first responder…

He released a video last night from the gym where he, ok, sure, promoted his movie a ‘lil in the process, but announced a major personal contribution to the cause of helping all these first responders out:

Hello World,

John Cena here.

And as you know I have a movie called Playing With Fire in theaters November 8th.

It’s a wonderful comedy I think the whole family will enjoy, and it showcases a group of people I believe are heroes; first responders. You also know that right now California is in dire straits. It is burning. It is under siege in massive wildfires statewide, which means our first responders are working around the clock and they need our help.

So… Paramount is bringing out the movie Playing With Fire, and today I asked myself, “What can I do?”.

I’ve come up with an answer. I want Paramount to do me one favor. I want them to pick a charity. Pick a charity that aids our first responders as soon as possible. And on behalf of Playing With Fire, and out of respect to the people that I truly believe are heroes, my response will be to immediately donate 1/2 a million dollars to this cause.

In times like this when people are giving their lives & working around the clock, what they need from us is resources. This is the right thing to do and I’m doing my part to help the cause. I wish everyone the best of luck. Please say safe. And you are our heroes.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Paramount not only help pick the charities, but make an announcement about a major donation of their own in response. Hope so, because everyone caught in this mess deserves all the help they can get. Awesome for Cena to bring attention to this cause.
