Ken Whisenhunt Has Been Sacked As Chargers Offensive Coordinator

This was sort of expected. The Chargers are lower middle of the pack in total YPG, Rivers is having one of his worst years, and they only have 556 rushing yards through 8 weeks (6th worst in the NFL and the 5th worst R/YPG). They also are the only team in the super bowl era to total less than 40 yards for 4 weeks in a row, which is a truly incredible stat. Part of this is due to the personel, with major pieces of the line like Okung and Pouncey being out, but a lot of that also fall on Wiz. You need to craft your gameplan to fit your personnel at this point in the season, not the other way around. It felt like fitting a square peg in a round hole the last few weeks and it showed in the box score. I think Wiz is a very gifted OC and he is not at the root of this teams problems, but he also isn’t helping. At this point in the season with the division looking actually up for grabs, I guess they think shaking things up may help.
