So in case you're the biggest loser on planet Earth and haven't heard the news yet, the Premier Lacrosse League will be expanding to 7 teams this upcoming season. This was announced by Paul Rabil on Wednesday's episode of Pardon My Take. Please credit.
On today's episode, Paul was back on the show to workshop some potential names for the new expansion club. While there were countless amounts of quality suggestions, the final list they narrowed it down to are Grit LC, Bolts LC, Stones LC, Phenom LC, Wave Dogs LC, Mud Puppies LC, and Fire Salamanders LC.
Now Grit, Bolts, Stones and Phenom are certainly decent names that would already fit the theme of some PLL team names already. But let's not lie to ourselves. The bottom 3 are where all the money is at. Wave Dogs, Mud Puppies and Fire Salamanders are all names that should end up in the league once the PLL expands to 12 teams. Not only because they are fire names, but also because it gives the PLL an opportunity to finally have a live mascot for one of their teams. Imagine having a little fire salamander running around on the sideline during games. Or if you have a bulldog just chilling on a surfboard. A mudpuppy isn't nearly as cute as I thought it would be once I googled what mudpuppies were, but maybe we can still just get a real dirty dog on the sidelines and then he can run through the sprinklers between games to clean off. Fact of the matter is that there needs to be a live mascot in the PLL, and those three give them the best options to do so.
Personally, I think there needs to be a team named "The Boys" at some point in the future. Maybe not for the 7th team but definitely one of the next 3 or 4. But just think of the potential there. You instantly have a fan base of absolutely fucking everybody. Everybody is always fired up for the boys. Everybody always says that the boys are buzzin. Everybody always wants to be for the boys. So when you've already got that fanbase naturally built in there, it just makes sense. Not saying is the best suggestion out there but I wouldn't say that it's not either.
