I’m in on Lehner. He’s been really good. He earned the back to back starts with his play. It is okay to love him. What I can’t understand is why EVERYONE is in my mentions calling for him be the out and out #1 goalie in Chicago. Fellas…it’s been 7 games. What are we talking about here? Why is everyone in a rush to hand the keys to Lehner. The Hawks signed Lehner as an insurance policy for Crawford. They obviously feel the pressure to make the playoffs this year and with Crawford’s history the organization didn’t trust him. That’s fine and dandy. Having said that…what the Blackhawks have is two #1 goalies. It’s not going to be a 50/50 split. Both guys are top 10 goalies when their games are right and they’re both going to deliver all year long. Don’t shit on Corey Crawford because the Hawks have two great goalies for the first time since Darling was traded to Carolina. This is what winning hockey is all about. Having guys who can steal games for a team that needs their goalies to do just that more times than not. They’ll both do it and if Lehner ends up starting 48-50 games over the course of the season, that is fine. When the playoffs come around I know who my game 1 starter is
He’s got the rings. When the chips are down, Crawford is the guy. Don’t throw dirt on him just yet. Don’t do anything. Just sit back and enjoy knowing that 9 times out of ten, no matter who is starting, the Hawks will have the edge in goal. Need a big win tonight. Let’s go
