Louisiana Newspaper Demands Apology From CBS For Showing Joe Burrow's Butt

When I saw this tweet above, I thought it was a joke. No way an entire editorial board would come together and actually be mad about one of the best moments of the 2019 college football season, right?

I was expecting to click on the link and getting Rick Roll’d. However, the article was real and let’s just say it was glorious:

LSU’s success on the football field wins a lot of exposure for Louisiana’s flagship school, and that’s usually a good thing.

But at Saturday’s game against Mississippi State, LSU got a little too much exposure. The Tigers’ star, Joe Burrow, was dragged to the ground by his breeches during the game’s third quarter, and fans in Starkville got to see a little more of the quarterback than they needed.

Yeah, all of LSU’s exposure was RUINED when Joe Burrow’s ass was shown on national TV. All the steps they made in the right direction this season have been ruined. They can’t even make the CFP anymore!

But it’s hard to understand why CBS sports felt it necessary to show two replays of the incident.

Because it was….hilarious?

And it seems doubtful the network would have taken that approach if the same thing had happened to a woman athlete.

Oh my god. What a fucking thing to write. Especially form the editorial board, not just some random intern. I did a double-take the first time I read that sentence. Yeah, we are going to treat Joe Burrow’s butt different than an LSU’s women soccer player’s butt. Not sure how much explaining we need for why, but it’s pretty simple.

CBS has played a constructive role in covering LSU sports and helping Louisiana tell its story through athletics.

But in this case, the network owes Burrow, and LSU, an apology.

Do NOT apologize, CBS. I repeat. Do NOT apologize.
