GAMEDAY - Colts Vs Texans In The Battle For 1st Place In The AFC South - Pregame Blog

It's GAMEDAY! The Boys In Blue are coming off a bye and are taking on the Texans at 1pm. I know it's week 7, but it looks like the winner of this series will become the AFC South champions. The Titans biggest rival are themselves and the Jaguars have too many problems in the front office to make a comeback. Both teams are coming off a win against the Kansas City Cheeks and are now battling for 1st place in the division. There's a lot to be excited for and it starts with the return of the 2018 defensive rookie of the year Darius Leonard

Our defensive captain returns to the field after being in concussion protocol for 3 weeks. He's only played the first 2 games of the season racking up 10 tackles and 1 sack, but I've got a great feeling he's going to light it up today. This is also perfect timing as the defense just can't stay healthy! Tyquan Lewis, and Malik Hooker are still out, now Kenny Moore is out, and Clayton Geathers is returning. Khari Willis has been playing great and I'd be surprised if Clayton starts over him! Thank God Pierre Desir is active because someone needs to cover Deandre and Will Fuller.

The Texans offense has scored 84 points in the last 2 games thanks to Watson, Will Fuller, and Deandre Hopkins and could very well put up a shitload if we can't contain Watson. The Colts did a great job getting to Mahomes 2 weeks ago and if the gameplan is the same for Watson, then the Colts have a great shot at winning this game. Watson will not have tackle Tytus Howard or backup guard Greg Mancz blocking him as they are both out. Carlos Hyde ran for 116 yards and 1 TD last week which concerns me, but the Colts have been good at stopping the run.

Offense

As for the offense, the Colts gotta unload all the ammo on the Texans defense. Running the ball has been the go-to procedure thanks to the O-line and Marlon Mack. Nyheim Hines is also a huge key to not only the run, but passing game. T.Y Hilton owns the Texans and to quote Big Ev, "That's a god damn fat fact". T.Y averages 102 yards against the Texans in his 8 years of playing against them. The last time T.Y played against the Texans, Johnathan Joseph called him a clown and responded with 63 yards in the opening drive of the wild card game

Here's the big question. Will Eric LEbron without the L finally play like himself?! He hasn't had a breakout game yet. Him and Doyle are a great duo and are dominant when they both click. The biggest threats for the Colts are J.J Watt and Whitney Mercilius. Thankfully, this is the first time in a while Jadeveon Clowney won't be all up on our QB's ass. Braden Smith and Anthony Castanzo will have a big task defending those guys, but if we can give Brissett time to let the Brisket sizzle, then Jacoby and T.Y. should have a better connection than Sprint.

Prediction:

If the Colts can contain Watson, rush for over 100 yards, and hit their field goals, this will be a win. I expect this to be a high scoring game, possibly a shootout between Jacoby and Watson. Texans have a poor secondary (26th in Passing Yards Allowed), and the Colts have a beat up secondary. With that being said, I'm going with Colts 33- Texans 27

As always, Go Horse. And also, RUN THE DAMN BALL.
