There Is No Unit Ability Without Accountability

Earlier today I was aghast at the picture Large tweeted. Ive worked here for a while now. Obviously there are some differences from this job and my last but they don’t usually overlap. It’s totally different and I get that.

There are days that the differences bother me and this is one of those. I think Dave kind of hit the nail on the ole head.

We talk about it all the time but the reality is that people would kill to work here. This is one of the only places that some twenty-somethings would get paid to have people watch them watch their teams. Deep down, every single person who works at this crazy place knows they are lucky but occasionally you lose that gratitude. You lose that overwhelmingly lucky feeling and get used to it and start to feel like you belong or that you made it here on merit and not some crazy-ass luck. When you feel that way, you walk out of the building without looking around. That doesn’t happen on day one but it does happen later. Clearly. I’m also not saying the Garbage Pail Kids feel entitled. You just gotta do more to avoid looking that way because appearances are the reality.

We brought ole Brenny Boy to the carpet on ZBT. He knew he fucked up and was smart to avoid making a public statement. Former Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps Sergeant Major Kent used to have a saying about earning the title of the Marine. He would say, “at recruit training, you earn the title of Marine. Every day for the rest of your life you should be out there proving that it wasn’t a fluke. Keep earning the title.” I wanna prove that working here wasn’t a fluke.
