Hey Banks,

Terp Thon 2014 is this Saturday and I was hoping you would be able to give the organization a little love on the website.

This will be it’s fifth year, and we’ve already raised over $1,000,000. This year we’re hoping to raise $355,000, which is 20% more than last year. It took THON over 20 years to get where we are now, so we’re hoping it will continue to grow year after year. Every dollar raised goes to Children’s National Medical Center, which is widely regarded as a top 5 Children’s Hospital in the world. It’s right here in DC so there are lots of people in the area who have a friend or family member whose life was saved there.

Anyway, the event is in Ritchie Coliseum this year, from noon to midnight on Saturday (3/8). You can check out the website at www.terpthon.org and any donations can be made at http://terpthon.org/donatenow.php.

Terp Thon is a great event for everyone involved, and one I participated in a couple times in my days in College Park. Modeled after Penn State’s Thon, it’s a yearlong campaign for Children’s Hospital that culminates in a massive dance marathon. This is only the 5th year UMD has done it, and it’s grown with each year. As fun as dancing your face off all day is, the best part is seeing the joy on the faces’ of these kids and knowing you’re making a difference in their lives.

Donate here before tomorrow if you can. Help Terp Thon reach its goal of $355,000 raised. Every dollar counts. And if you’re a Terp stoolie, get involved. Terp Thon isn’t like a lot of charities where you just write a check and feel good about it. You get so much more out of it, and there’s great people in the organization from top to bottom. These kids deserve so much better than the hand they’ve been dealt.

Plus the Backstreet Boys say you should go, so you gotta.
