Wednesday Night FunBelt: App State @ ULL (-2.5)

Good evening. Did you know we have football tonight? You didn’t? Well, I have good news for you, because at 8:00 PM on ESPN 2, Appalachian State will take on Louisiana-Lafayette. Currently, the line sits at ULL -2.5. After putting all the numbers into the #StackCashWithJackMac system, it became very clear that we are going to have a side to PLAY in this game.

Does App State’s defense scare me a bit? Sure, but ULL has the same issue, but worse. The Ragin Cajuns rank 85th nationally according to FEI’s defensive metrics, App State ranks 67th. The Mountaineers 25th ranked offense will have a big night.

App State has shown us they are legitimately one of the best teams in the G5 with their win on the road against North Carolina. Louisiana-Lafayette? Their best win was against Ohio. It was on the road, so we will give them credit for that, but that is not the same caliber of win as beating UNC is.

After their victory over UNC, this App State team has a legitimate opportunity to finish the 2019 season undefeated and make a NY6 bowl game. They’ve seen UCF has lost. Now it comes down to running the table in the Sun Belt and beating South Carolina later in the season. To accomplish that 13-0 dream, they’ll have to win tonight. I see them doing that.
