Brett Ritchie Had A Very Nice Goal 69 Seconds Into The Season As The Bruins Open With A 2-1 Win In Dallas

Boston Bruins v Dallas StarsThe Boston Bruins’ revenge tour is off to a solid start, thanks to a 2-1 win in Dallas. Brett Ritchie and Danton Heinen were your lone goal scorers as Tuukka Rask stopped a late surge from the Dallas Stars.

69 seconds into the season Brett Ritchie snapped one past Ben Bishop to give the Bruins the 1-0 lead. Very nice.

Danton Heinen cashed in on the PP later in the 1st. 2-0 Bruins after 1.

Roope Hintz scored a breakaway goal cut the Bruins lead to 2-1. God awful line change from Zdeno Chara.

Tuukka Rask shut the door in the 3rd and the Bruins won their opener 2-1.

News, notes and quotes:

– David Krejci did not play due to a LBI. Par Lindholm slotted in at 2C and Brett Ritchie played with Charlie Coyle and Danton Heinen.

– Brett Ritchie made an impact against his former team, scoring 69 seconds into the season on his first shot of the game.

– As good as the first period was the second was all Dallas. After Roman Polak was stretchered off the ice after going head first into the boards, Roope Hintz scored a breakaway goal to cut the Bruins lead in half. Tough time for Chara to go to the bench and McAvoy got burnt. Bruins coughed up too many shorthanded chances for my liking in the second, credit the Stars PK though. After Danton Heinen’s PP goal in the 1st they shored things up.

– Speaking of the Power Play, it started off strong with the 2nd unit cashing in in the first, but then went to shit. 0/3 after that. PP1 just wasn’t clicking.

– Like the PP, the top line seemed out of sync tonight. Not sure if it’s Bergeron just not 100%, but again, first game of the season, not gonna nit pick too much.

– Loved seeing Karson Kuhlman fly tonight. Man he’s got some wheels. Had a few opportunities, but nevertheless a good showing sans Krejci.

– Charlie McAvoy led all Bruins in the back end with 22:08 of TOI. Big shot block in the 3rd. Felt like he was on the ice every single shift. Zdeno looked his age at times tonight but again, he’s coming off a few big injuries. Brandon Carlo looked more confident with the puck and Matt Grzelcyk was Matt Grzelcyk. Couple of bad line changes from the defensemen tonight but other than that thought the D played well.

– Tuukka Rask really stood on his head in the 3rd. Was locked in all night. 28 saves on 29 shots. Jaro Halak will get the start in Arizona on Saturday night.

– Good to hear Roman Polak is okay. He went in awkwardly head first into the boards after trying to hit Chris Wagner. Scary moment as he was stretchered off the ice but the Stars are saying he has full use of his extremities and he’s feeling better.

Not gonna overreact after one game. Hopefully David Krejci is in the lineup vs. Arizona, but a nice start to get off on the right foot. Gear up:

It was a great night to win a hockey game.
