Dwayne Haskins Has To Realize We, The Fans, Are On HIS Side, We Want Them To Win More Than Anything

Here’s what I’ve realized- new players like Dwayne Haskins, players who have never experienced losing, have a hard time understanding why the Skins fan base is the way it is. They see all the negativity on social media (and I KNOW Dwayne sees it, he’s very online) and immediately get mad at the fans. They see all the empty seats at the games, all the opposing team’s colors, and get upset the “real fans” aren’t there. But that’s the thing- we ARE the real fans. The real fans, the fans who have been there since day 1, have to take a stand against Dan Snyder somehow. We are on your side, Dwayne. We want this team to win more than anything. We want you to succeed and set every Redskins QB record in the book. There’s nothing we want more than this franchise to get back to being an elite NFL franchise. A perennial Super Bowl contender. With a stadium other teams are scared to come into.

So Dwayne, please realize it’s not us against you. It’s us against *them*. Them being the front office who has sucked our souls out of our bodies. Them being the front office who has for the last 20 years nickeled and dimed the loyal fan base and given nothing in return. Them being the front office who refuses to run the team the way competent NFL franchises run their teams.

As I wrote before, there is absolutely nothing wrong with Skins fans speaking with our wallets and not giving Dan Snyder a penny more of our money. It’s the only voice we have. Imagine being a father of 3, grinding 40 hours a week at a job, only to spend $500+ on tickets and parking and food to see a Dan Snyder product get mopped up and down the field? While Snyder refuses to make any changes at all. It ain’t worth it. And it ain’t right that he continues to do this.

Hopefully Dwayne Haskins can be part of a revolution. Maybe he can be the guy who ushers in change. I want to believe, but I won’t hold my breath. As long as Snyder is in charge, I just truly do not believe any player can change the culture of the Redskins. Snyder has systematically installed a losing, “Mean Girls”-esque environment in Ashburn that only seems to be getting worse. It’s the sad, brutal truth we live with. All we can hope is Snyder sells the team.
