Our Year Starts Again Tonight

Lots going on, man. Lots going on. We are in the THICC of it in sports and I love it. The Redskins are the dumpster fire I can’t stop looking at, the Nats are in the NLDS, college football is in midseason, college basketball is warming up and getting ready to get into the oven, and now today, one of the greatest days of the year- HOCKEY IS BACK, BAYBAY!

Doesn’t get much better than this, especially when you know your team (knock on wood) has a real chance to make it back to the Cup.

Last year obviously didn’t go the Caps way after we were eliminated by the Canes in the first round. What a bullshit series that was, man. That horseshoe up the Canes arse, boy. But yes, they played very well and props to them and blah blah blah, I’m just still salty about that Oshie injury. Osh deserved better than that. But obviously that’s all in the past and a new season is starting tonoight, as the Caps take on the defending Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues in St. Louis. So for the 3rd year in a row (Pitt, their own, Blues) the Caps will be at a banner ceremony. Last year on banner night we beat the Bruins 7-0, so that was nice. Hopefully the Blues don’t bring that same sort of ass-whooping energy tonight though. Not how I want to start out the season on the other side of a 7 burger.

So hey, here we go again. The long 82 game regular season before the real season begins. Just get us healthy to the playoffs, please. That’s all I ask. And some awesome Ovi goals along the way. And just remember, don’t take him for granted. Our baby boy is 34 years old, so we might only have 10 or so more years with him. Savor it.
