Damian Lillard Drops A Diss Track Responding To Shaq And It's Absolutely Ruthless

Ding, ding, ding. We have ourselves an official rap battle and not some bullshit one either. Dame goes IN on Shaq here. I mean I can’t say I’m surprised. Dame is an actual legit rapper and after listening to Shaq’s rap last night you knew he had to respond strong.
So let’s get into Dame’s side here. Predictably he drops the ‘Kobe won you them rings though.’ It’s a line that everyone expected and one he had to hit. You know this shit drives Shaq nuts, especially when, well, Shaq won Kobe the rings. That’s a different debate though. He plays that one in well, doesn’t dwell on it and just hits the one line. Perfect execution.
I absolutely lost it though when he starts bringing up shit from other teams:
‘All the money in the world but they traded you for Penny.’
‘You said I’m a Tesla, no longer need Diesel gas. Kinda like the Cavs ain’t really need Diesel ass and in Miami won that on the strength of Flash.’
Phew, that’s brutal man. In the first line he’s talking about how the Magic were going to decide between Shaq and Penny with the luxury tax and shit and ultimately decided on Penny. Then he hits them again with Shaq needing someone else to win him a title. I’d say the refs won the title in 2006 for Miami, but Wade works too.
My reaction when he drops these two lines was sort of like this:
‘Look inside the statue at Staples, it’s a corpse.’
‘Hangman your shoe shit, Dame 6 I’m too lit.’
On one hand he’s saying he buried Shaq. He’s no longer Shaq. I love it. Declare yourself the winner right away and control the story. The second line, Dame showed off his new shoes recently and brings up Shaq’s shoes with him hanging on the rim logo:
I will say this line made me not happy and in fact almost made me declare Shaq the winner. Blue Chips is WAY better than Space Jam. Not even close.

All in all an A+ response from Lillard. He did what he had to. He addressed Shaq’s call outs for not being Steph, responding that Shaq was just jealous Steph was a unanimous MVP and he wasn’t. He brings up Shaq not winning a ring on his own. He brings up how Lillard’s max deal is nothing that Shaq ever got in terms of money. Plus his flow is better than Shaq’s – again not surprising since Dame is the better rapper.
All I know is I need rap battles to solve more things. If someone calls you out, hit the damn studio. Remember this all started because Dame said he was a better rapper than Shaq:

It’s close in terms of this battle. I give the slight edge to Dame, I just like his flow better. Who you got?
